Why Tarot can be disappointing AF…

Many people have a very skewed understanding (and potentially major MISunderstanding) of Tarot due to its depiction in the movies and on social media. And to add to the confusion, there's this weird rise of DMs from randos on Instagram offering readings, claiming there's some kind of urgent message for you from "your guides" that cannot wait. That is, ahem, creepy and inaccurate as f*ck.

I'm not surprised to see spirituality being hijacked by money-hungry scammers online. Instagram and other social media outlets are full of people preying on desperation and addiction to instant gratification, asking for your dollar in exchange for promises they know full well they cannot and will not fulfill. And to be frank, it's impacted me and my business. People are booking readings and are pissed off when I can't tell them exactly when they will meet their significant other or what they “should” do in major life circumstances. It just doesn’t work that way.

So let’s talk TRUTH about Tarot!

Tarot is not fortune-telling or future-telling. It is one of many ways to connect with and interact with your guides and your soul-self (authentic self, higher self, intuition). And while your team wants you to have the most joyful, beautiful life, they won’t just hand you the answers to your big questions or dilemmas.

I know.

It can be a big ol' bummer.

But that would be cheating you. Imagine if your professor just gave you the right answers to all your tests in college. Yeah, getting all those 100s would probably feel good in the moment, but you’d be wildly ill-prepared and deprived of knowledge and wisdom. Instant gratification often leads to longterm disappointment.

Tarot is meant to guide you toward alignment with the path(s) that will provide the best opportunities to learn, grow and evolve. It’s NOT meant to help you avoid the lessons you need to learn or to skip the “hard parts” of your journey.

So here are a few tips to get the most out of your Tarot readings:

  1. Seek to understand yourself and your current situations better.

  2. Instead of focusing on how or when you’ll get a specific outcome, ask to be shown the path that would be most valuable and serve your highest good.

  3. Better yet, let go of the how and when completely.

  4. Make peace with the fact that your head isn’t always speaking the truth.

  5. Therefore, allow yourself to explore what your truth actually is.

  6. Be open to considering different perspectives (you’re usually only seeing from ONE, which is limiting).

  7. FEEL instead of THINK. Tarot speaks to and from your SOUL, so overanalyzing won’t be of much benefit.
